Remington leaving NY & Rio Ammunition made in Texas

After our report last week about Remington’s lost jobs in New York, we learned that last month Remington Arms confirmed that New York’s onerous gun control laws played a role in the company’s decision to continue expanding outside the state.

The company says one reason behind its decision to open a new plant in Alabama rather than expand in New York was “state policies affecting use of our products,” Remington Outdoor Company CEO George Kollitides wrote to some upstate officials Oct. 20.

Texas ammo

A new ammo plant for Spanish-owned ammunition manufacturer Rio Ammunition, a division of Maxam Outdoors, is being built in Marshall, TX. The 105,000 SF facility will produce shotgun shells and serve as its US headquarters, employing about 60 people.
