- A three-judge panel from the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that a lawsuit against the BATF demanding tighter regulations on so-called “ghost guns” should be dismissed for lack of standing.
- US District Judge George O’Toole of the District of Massachusetts has upheld the Massachusetts law barring 18- to 20-year-olds from possessing handguns and semiautomatic firearms, rejecting a constitutional challenge brought by a 20-year-old resident and a coalition of gun rights organizations. The case is Escher v. Noble. This one will be overturned.
- In a 2-1 decision, a three-judge panel of the Tenth US Circuit Court of Appeals has struck down New Mexico’s seven-day waiting period for taking possession of a purchased firearm, noting in its 38-page ruling, “As a general matter, the government cannot delay the exercise of a right because it believes that citizens might misuse it without sufficient time to reflect beforehand.” Well, duh. The case is Ortega v. Grisham.
