- SCOTUS Kicks 2A Can Down Road Again.
- The Supreme Court of the United States has denied cert in NRA v. Vullo, a petition for review of a Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that awarded qualified immunity to Maria Vullo, the former superintendent of New York’s Department of Financial Services, for conduct that SCOTUS previously recognized as a First Amendment violation. None of the justices registered a dissent from the denial, nor did any opt to write an explanation.

Government & Enemies
- Congress cut $40 million from ATF in the latest federal funding bill. Of course that still leaves them with $1.5+ billion. I can’t see that any federal agency short of the military or infrastructure justifies billion-dollar budgets. Read the Constitution. Most of what the feds do – across the board – is not constitutional.
- Illegal aliens legally armed as cops?
- Shotgun ammo bans?
- RAND Ends “Gun Policy” Research. Just two weeks ago we reported that anti-gun billionaires Laura and John Arnold funded RAND’s annual anti-gun report, “The Science of Gun Policy.”
- And Idiots:
- VA’s Democrat governor and Democrat-dominated state legislature just banned gun-possession for anyone under the age of twenty-one, unless “supervised by an adult.”
- Virginia defines “adult” as anyone over the age of eighteen.
- So, in VA you can’t legally possess a gun when you’re twenty, unless you’re being “supervised” by an eighteen-year-old.

Studies & Stats
- We noted two weeks ago a study by the Crime Prevention Research Council indicating that transgender people commit mass shootings at rates of around six times their population share. Here’s more from the CPRC, indicating that transgender individuals were 12 times as likely to commit an active shooting attack compared to the population as a whole.

- Mexico. I told you years ago not to go there.
- More. And more: DON’T GO THERE.
- And then there’s this.
- Good article about rifle price, reliability and accuracy. (The new NRA digital magazine is a PAIN to read!) While we’re here, I’ll throw in a plug for Tikka rifles. Our examples have been breathtakingly perfect. Outstanding groups, 100% reliability, ergonomic & handsome, and very reasonably priced. My ONLY complaint has been the price of the polymer magazines.

Products

- Cooper Rifles is now owned by Nighthawk Custom, which has made improvements to the products. I have an original Cooper rimfire, and it’s hard to imagine any needed improvement. Check ’em out.
- Great Lakes Firearms and Ammunition has a prototype Remington 700 footprint receiver made of carbon fiber with metal reinforcement elements.
- The new Taurus Model 66 Combat (7-shot .357 Mag. 3″ SS revolver) retails for $1070. The S&W Model 66 Plus (same specs) lists for $1059. You choose.
- Winchester LE has some interesting shotgun ammo from its Ranger line:
- A company called OpticGard has precision-molded, slip-on polymer “guards” for a wide variety of pistol optics. In addition to the guard for the body of the optic, the unit comes with an opaque lens guard that you can use as an option, and now there are optional add-on lens covers that they call “GlareGard,” which is a miniature killflash or anti-reflection device that looks like a honeycomb. Perhaps a good idea, but if that grid fills up with mud, you can’t just wipe it off. I don’t know how fast you could snatch the whole thing off.
- Steiner Optics has introduced the new M10Xi 1-10×24, a premium low-power variable optic aimed at special forces and public safety units. It has a true 1x low end and a full 10x top magnification.
- Silent Steel is debuting its new patent-pending Boltlok Quick-Attach mounting system, designed to deliver a secure, repeatable suppressor lock-up without added bulk.
- The Holster Jack for pocket holsters. A $40 add-on to a $10 holster seems pretty high to me.
- RCBS is promoting its new Henderson-partnered RCBS MatchMaster Case Trimmer. But I have an old RCBS automatic electric trimmer that appears to do about the same thing, and mine was – if memory serves – about 1/10 the price of the new one.
- Have you always wanted a .50 BMG rifle but never could justify the cost? Palmetto State Armory has the Noreen ULR .50 BMG Single Shot Bolt Action rifle for just $2k. But they seem to be out of stock a lot.
- The KelTec KP50 & MP50 (more here). If you like that sort of thing.
- More new Ruger 10/22 variants.
