Presidential election. Lamebrain duck. ATF director. More.

Presidential election

Donald Trump says he would veto any new gun regs, and that we should enforce current laws and regulations. He also criticized gun free zones as being “target practice for the sickos and for the mentally ill.”

But some of Trump’s own properties are “gun free” zones. He says he’ll reconsider that. Time’s a-wasting.

“Republican” US Rep. Paul Ryan (WI) has succeeded Rep. John Boehner (OH) as Speaker of the House. Ryan has voted for gun control.

Lamebrain duck

Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse Reports recently revealed that President Obama’s lies about increasing prosecution of federal gun laws (one of Obama’s 23 executive directives in January 2013) were — guess what — false. It seems that Mr. Obama’s annual prosecution of gun crimes has never reached the levels of prosecutions seen during George W. Bush’s last five years in office.

The Reports show that prosecutions for gun violations actually began a decline in 2013, were even lower in 2014 and reached an all-time low for the Obama administration in 2015, which experienced a 15.5% drop in prosecutions from 5 years ago and a 34.8% drop from the midway point of Bush’s 8 years in office.

Mr. Obama was honest about one thing — he continues to call for more gun control laws to punish us for his failure to act. In fact just this week in the gun ban/violent crime capital of the country, Chicago, Mr. Obama called not for locking up more criminals, but for more gun control laws for the law-abiding to abide.

ATF director

Tom Brandon is no longer the acting director of ATF. He is now the deputy director. He also remains in charge of the Fast & Furious cover up.

By law (the Vacancies Act), no one can hold that interim title of acting director for longer than 210 days, which in this case ran out Oct. 27. So now Brandon will still run the agency, but ATF will not officially have a director.

The Obama administration reportedly has no plans to name a permanent director before Obama’s term expires (yay!), because it costs too much political capital to get a nominee through Senate confirmation. That is because Mr. Obama makes sorry nominations.
