September 18, 2015 product highlights

There’s been a lot of chatter about the FIREClean gun lube product, with accusations that it’s nothing but canola/rapeseed/take-your-pick vegetable oil. The company doesn’t say what’s in it, but their patent application says three or more vegetable oils. I’m not sure what the fuss is about, unless it’s that they’re selling Crisco for a buck an ounce. Either it works for you and it’s worth it, or not, same as any other gun lube.

Suppressed Marlin 1894 in .357. I prefer this over an AR for most social purposes outside the military (have you ever heard of a Marlin jamming or stopping, assuming correct ammo?)

SilencerCo has apparently modified a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm pistol, adding an integral suppression device to the front of the gun. Also from the company is the Osprey Rimfire modular silencer, basically the same concept as the Salvo shotgun can, in a rimfire size.

SilencerCo says “The Osprey Micro is the most versatile, shortest, quietest, and easiest to clean rimfire silencer available. What makes this silencer truly unique is that it is user-configurable and can be shortened from the already compact size of 4.6″ down to a mere 3.1″. Due to its eccentric design with a flat sight plane, the Osprey Micro is compatible with factory sights and can be holstered. The Osprey Micro is available for purchase now at a price of $599 and will begin shipping in October of 2015.”

Another “covert” case. Cheap.

Alliant has a couple of new magnum rifle powders, Reloder 23 and Reloder 26, both claimed to be relatively temperature insensitive and with decoppering agents.
