MS special election is June 2

We have a report that the NRA/ILA has endorsed Republican Trent Kelly in the June 2 (THIS TUESDAY) runoff election for the 1st Congressional District of Mississippi, and has given him an “AQ” rating (“A” grade based on questionnaire). We have been unable to confirm this through the ILA website. Kelly has also been endorsed by other conservative groups. His Democrat opponent, Walter Zinn, has received some liberal endorsements.

Kelly currently serves as the District Attorney for Lee, Pontotoc, Alcorn, Monroe, Itawamba, Prentiss and Tishomingo Counties. An Iraq War Veteran, he has spent 29 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard and is currently a Colonel serving as the Brigade Commander of the 168th Engineer Brigade, based in Vicksburg. (There are no advanced academic qualifications required to be a combat engineer. This “engineer” term is not to be confused with the term applied to Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer.)

If you are registered to vote in Mississippi’s First Congressional District, and will be unavailable to vote on June 2, you may vote absentee at your county circuit clerk’s office until this Saturday, May 30 (Tomorrow), at noon. You may also mail in an absentee ballot, but it must be received by your county circuit clerk’s office by Monday, June 1, at 5 pm.
