April 10, 2015 product highlights

The NRA meeting is going on now. There should be some new product announcements there.

Remington is producing its version (the RM380) of the Rohrbaugh .380 pistol (Remington recently bought Rohrbaugh), and the price ($417) is MUCH lower than the original (~$1000). It is reportedly made in Huntsville, AL. We don’t know what changes may have been made, but the Rohrbaugh was a premium gun. You may want to wait for the 9mm version. I also suspect it may kill Remington’s troubled R51 pistol, which is no longer on their website.

Heckler & Koch has announced a subcompact version of the P30. It is the P30SK, which has a capacity of 11+1 in 9mm, and weighs 24 oz.

The FN M249S, a semi-automatic version of the M249 SAW light machinegun, was originally developed by FN Herstal as the FN MINIMI and adopted by the US Military in 1988. The rifle features the signature 20.5″ FN cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel and operates from a closed bolt position. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, the rifle will accept both magazine and linked ammunition belt and offers a 4.5-6.5 lb. trigger pull.

XS Sight Systems has teamed up with SilencerCo to produce a new line of co-branded suppressor height sights. The suppressor height sight sets will be available for 1911s, with an expanded line coming soon for Glocks, 9mm and up (excluding the Glock 43). The sights feature an XS Sights Standard Dot Tritium front sight and a SilencerCo serrated U-notch rear sight. Tools for installation and thread locking compound are included with the sights.

MG Arms of Houston, TX, has its new 50 caliber semi-automatic “Behemoth” rifle, which includes a Super Eliminator muzzle brake, stainless steel Match Grade barrel with skip line fluting, Picatinny style handrail with KeyMods, five shot detachable magazine, fully machined 17-4 stainless steel lower receiver, custom trigger, choice of fully adjustable or custom skeletonized butt stock, and choice of PTFE or Ceramic metal finish.

The Lipsey’s Exclusive Ruger Flattop .357 Magnum/9mm Convertible is built on the mid-size .357 single-action frame and is available in four models, with either 4-5/8″ or 5-1/2″ barrel length in blue or stainless steel. All four models feature slim rosewood grips, adjustable sights, and a convertible 9mm cylinder.
