- We have recently (finally) had the opportunity to switch our internet and landline phone from AT&T DSL/copper to CSpire fiber. CSpire works. AT&T doesn’t. ‘Nuff said.
Shutdown
- We have word that – under pressure – the ATF’s National Firearms Act examiners have returned to work to resume the processing of applications for lawful transfers of suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, etc.
- President Donald Trump has directed the US Fish and Wildlife Service to allow hunting on the nearly 600 National Wildlife Refuges across the country amid the shutdown that has left many of the agency’s employees furloughed. According to the plan, refuge law enforcement officers will be exempt from the furlough in addition to at least one employee who will remain on site for safety purposes. The visitor centers will stay closed for the time being, but the hunts will go on as planned.
Litigation
- The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide whether a federal law that bans gun possession for drug users is constitutional. Just last week the High Court declined to take up another case challenging the federal prohibition on marijuana users possessing firearms.
- SCOTUS is hearing a case that could fundamentally alter how police interact with gun owners during “welfare checks.” In Case v. Montana, the Department of Justice is defending warrantless home entries by law enforcement, including federal agents, and the authority to prosecute cases where evidence of crimes is discovered during those entries. At issue is warrantless home entries based on reasonable suspicion and “circumstances,” rather than probable cause.
- The US Justice Department has issued its reply briefs to two Second Amendment-related cases (handgun sales to young adults and challenge to the National Firearms Act) the Supreme Court will soon consider in conference, and in both filings the Solicitor General is urging the Court to keep the federal gun control laws at issue in place.
- The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a new lawsuit in New Hampshire challenging the unconstitutional search of an 18-year-old high school senior’s vehicle, based solely on the knowledge that he is a legal gun owner.
- Virginia private sales background check law and resulting de facto sales ban for young adults struck down by Virginia circuit court.
- Patrick “Tate” Adamiak’s strange criminal case.
- Grassroots updates: October 20, 2025 and October 22, 2025.

The Only Ones
- Former Centreville, MS police officer Patrick Harris has pleaded guilty to embezzlement after he pawned his assigned pistol from the Centreville Police Department to a pawn shop. A few months later, Harris also took two pistols from the evidence room and pawned them, as well.
- An unidentified US Marshal was shot by another unidentified officer during a vehicle stop in Los Angeles. “…our officers followed their training and fired…” They train for that?
