There “seems” to be an open season on the police this year, with several high profile ambush style murders. We understand that so far this year in the US, there have been 26 officers shot and killed in the line of duty (and possibly one more off-duty but targeted). But shooting deaths of officers are actually down 13% compared with the same period in 2014, when there were 30 shootings. Those figures include state, local and federal officers, and 2 accidental shootings, but do not include suicides.
