The Marines renamed eight special operations units as Marine Raiders this week. The Raider name was made famous by WWII units that carried out risky amphibious and guerrilla operations. The units are part of the Marines’ branch of US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), which includes special forces from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The Marines’ Special Operations Command, known as MARSOC, was formed more than a decade ago as part of the global fight against terrorism. But Raiders sounds better.
New Army pistols. Again. Don’t hold your breath.
