Disparity of force chart

Chances of survival (see pdf document below). The real importance here is that if you are involved on the small side of a disparity of force incident and have to resort to use of a weapon to survive the encounter, if you can prove that you knew about this information at the time of the incident, such knowledge can be admitted in your defense against any resulting charges for shooting an unarmed man, for instance.

Protection After the Shooting

FWIW, I like the Armed Citizens’ Legal Defense Network.

Polk County, Florida, Sheriff Grady Judd is making headlines again after telling residents of his county, “I would highly suggest that if a looter breaks into your home, comes into your home, while you’re there, to steal stuff, that you take your gun and you shoot him. You shoot him so that he looks like grated cheese.”

No. You shoot him only when justified (which under the law may be when someone feloniously breaks into an occupied dwelling), but you STOP shooting as soon as any reasonably perceived serious threat has ceased.

NRA

Does ANYONE still believe that NRA EVP Wayne LaPierre isn’t a corrupt felon?

Litigation and GFZs

Remember how New York is calling its subways “sensitive places” and trying to ban guns there? Well last weekend six masked attackers wearing hoodies beat and stabbed a teenager on a Midtown Manhattan subway platform and then escaped. Within the last two weeks, there have been at least a dozen violent, bloody criminal attacks of passengers on NYC’s subway system, and it is more than likely that many times that number that have actually occurred, but many, probably most, are never reported. Yeah, no need to have a gun to defend yourself on those safe sensitive subways.

Meanwhile, a federal judge in Syracuse, NY has granted a temporary restraining order blocking the state and its political subdivisions from enforcing several provisions of the newly-enacted Concealed Carry Improvement Act, including many of the “sensitive places” bans. NY will appeal.

The Firearms Policy Coalition has filed suit in the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Palmer v. Sisolak, challenging Nevada’s confiscatory ban on all unserialized, self-manufactured firearms as well as all “unfinished frames or receivers.” FPC cases are here.

The Mexican government has filed another lawsuit U.S. companies it claims are responsible for the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico. The first lawsuit, which was recently dismissed, targeted U.S. gun manufacturers. The second appears to target gun dealers. Apparently neither suit goes after the U.S. government itself, which is responsible for various felony gun-running schemes into Mexico. The traitorous Brady Bunch is assisting Mexico in these cases. I know of a way to deal with Mexico that doesn’t involve courts.

And then there’s this: A major leak of Mexican government documents revealed that members of the military sold weapons and information to the cartels. Perhaps that lawsuit is misdirected…

About those Supreme Court cases.

Police response times

On Friday, October 7th, the Southaven, MS, Police Department received a call from someone alleging an active shooter was at DeSoto Central High School. The caller said approximately 10 students had been shot. Officers arrived on scene within 3 minutes of the call. The call turned out to be a hoax, but kudos to the 3-minute cops. However, do not take too much comfort in this. This sort of event, if real, would on average only last about four minutes. And three minutes is roughly equivalent to seven deaths on average.

Uvalde

The Uvalde, Texas, school district has suspended its entire district police force in the wake of the May massacre at its Robb Elementary School. In addition, the district has fired officer Crimson Elizondo, who was hired by the district despite being under investigation for her conduct as a DPS trooper during the massacre. By resigning from DPS to work for the Uvalde schools, Elizondo was no longer subject to any internal discipline or penalties. Conduct of six other DPS personnel is now being investigated by the agency’s inspector general.

The Only Ones

An armed guard at a Texas nightclub witnessed two armed, masked men robbing a victim by his car. The guard shot the robbery victim. Twice.

San Antonio police officer James Brennand was fired after he shot a teen multiple times after the boy disobeyed the officers order to exit his car where he was eating a burger in a McDonald’s parking lot and instead drove off. Brennand then lied about the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Fired? That’s it? Still under investigation, which they claim may take a year.

Enemies

Gun-ban group March for Our Lives blames America for last week’s school massacre in Thailand. Because they’re so rational. Me, I blame March for Our Lives and other gun haters. See how that works?

What’s good for the goose…

Federal agents investigating President Biden’s son Hunter have gathered what they believe is sufficient evidence to charge him with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase (pretty much an absolute fact), according to people familiar with the case. Apparently nothing on being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, perhaps because they didn’t actually catch him with it. The next step is for the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, a Trump appointee, to decide on whether to file such charges. The U.S. Attorney works for the U.S. Attorney General, who works for the President, who is the liberal anti-gun father of the perp. Simple math.

Meanwhile, President Biden admits he knew his son was committing a federal felony.

Canadian guns

Canada has selected the Sig Sauer P320 to replace the Browning Hi Power for its military forces. Question is, how do we get our hands on the Hi Powers?

Products

Is it possible? CCI’s .22LR Velocitor round is now 20 years old. One of my favorites.

The Herring Model 2024 is a multi-caliber capable lever action AR rifle. Cool.

Quotes

“If you do carry a firearm, then it should be to full capacity, as opposed to an empty chamber, for obvious reasons and with at least one readily accessible backup magazine.” – Steve Tarani

“Carrying a gun doesn’t make you safer. Or tougher. It just makes you more dangerous.” – John Archibald

Uhm, yeah, that’s kinda the point. The more dangerous you are, the less likely you are to be a victim.

The silly-butt notion that “violence is never the solution” is patently false, period. Sometimes it is the ONLY solution. Anyone saying otherwise is both wrong and dangerous.

“My gun is for me. Those people had the same opportunity I did to seek high level defensive training and carry their own weapon. They chose to sit around and watch TV instead. Why should I risk my life for them?” – A very smart gun school student
