Hunting season is about here…

Hunting season

Anybody know of a free place to shoot doves in central MS?

Litigation

The North Texas U.S. District Court has struck down Texas’ ban on legal handgun carry by adults aged 18-20. The case is Andrews v. McCraw. The order has been stayed for 30 days, pending appeal.

“Beyond the First and Fourth Amendments, other constitutional provisions, which do not specifically mention ‘the people,’ support the Court’s conclusion that ‘the people’ protected by the Second Amendment include 18-to-20-year-olds. On this point, neither the Fifth Amendment nor the Fourteenth Amendment exclude – or have been interpreted to exclude-18-to-20-year-olds… …To the extent that Texas’s statutory scheme … prohibits law-abiding 18-to-20-year-olds from carrying handguns for self-defense outside the home based solely on their age, this statutory scheme violates the Second Amendment, as incorporated against the States via the Fourteenth Amendment,” – Judge Mark T. Pittman (no known relation)

The Big Rotten Apple – explicitly violating the SCOTUS Bruen decision.

Gun Free Zone sign

BATmen

As always, ask to see the search warrant and comply with it. If they don’t have one, I would immediately tell them to leave and would call the local law enforcement agency to report ATF’s trespassing unless they got off my property before the local cops answered the phone.

The Only Ones

  • An unidentified FBI agent shot himself in the leg Monday morning in the loading dock area of the federal courthouse in Philadelphia.
  • U.S. Army Spc. Grant Lee Mosley, 25, a combat engineer at Fort Bliss, Texas, was indicted last week in Texas federal court for allegedly 3D-printing and selling parts that can convert legal semiautomatic firearms into fully automatic machine guns.

NRA

The NRA continues to sink. Perhaps the big New York lawsuit will result in court-ordered legitimate leadership, which we were unable to manage on our own.

“There have been proposals over the last 30 years to set aside life member dues in a special fund, but nothing has ever been done, so their dues are treated as ordinary revenue. The dues of a life member who joined in 2000 were spent in the year 2000. Now in 2022, he still gets his magazine, but it’s paid for out of the dues of annual members in 2022.”

I have proposed exactly that for any organization that offers a life membership for a one-time fee. It is profoundly short-sighted to do anything else with it. The proposal always falls on deaf ears. Apparently most folks never took an economics course.

More of the same – Board nominations

I have no positive recommendations at this time.

The September Rangemaster (pdf link) and ACLDN newsletters are out.

“Be certain the revolver’s barrel is pointed straight up when you eject spent cases from the cylinder. Ejecting the cases at an angle leads to unburned gunpowder particles dribbling out of the mouth of a case and settling under the extractor. This can actually put the revolver out of action.”

Enemies

A little good news…

“Former” criminal and dope head heavy metal performer John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne said he is “fed up” with gun violence in America and plans to move back permanently to England along with his wife, Sharon. Osbourne said in his own memoir that in 2002 had a nervous breakdown and shot their 17 cats with a shotgun. I bet the cats are fed up too, Ozzy.

Fakebook beats up on gun dealers who follow its rules. Well you knew Fartbook was a snake when you picked it up. I generally completely ignore gun dealers with an online presence only on farcebook. Why would any legitimate gun business use only an anti-gun platform to advertise?

“We just passed the first significant gun safety legislation in 30 years in this country. And I promise you, we’re not stopping here. I’m determined to ban assault weapons (sic) in this country.” – President “Shotgun” Joe Biden

Also during his speech in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, President Joe Biden falsely claimed that mass shootings “tripled” after the 1994-2004 Clinton “assault weapons” ban expired.

More from our LIAR-in-chief:

“Do you realize the bullet out of an AR-15 travels five times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun.”

I can’t think of anyone who lies more than Joe Biden.

Sydney Watson quote

DGU

A young man suspected of randomly killing three people on Detroit streets fled when an armed bystander saw him shoot a fourth person and responded with his own gunfire.

Not a DGU

What if?

“An employee who was killed in a shooting at a Safeway supermarket in Bend, Oregon, attacked the gunman in the produce section and tried to disarm him, likely preventing more deaths, authorities said Monday.”

What if the employee had used his own gun and simply shot the killer between the eyes?

Tactics

Why is it that in virtually every defensive shooting course or competition, the shooting starts upon an audible signal, but in the real world it nearly always starts with a visual one?

Everything’s bigger in Texas

Texas has 6,013 FFLs. Houston has 308.

Jackson, MS gun shop

The old, expanded Gunsmiths location, later occupied by Surplus City on U.S. 80 in Clinton, MS, has reopened with the name Downrange Gun & Tactical, LLC. They seem to have no web presence outside of fakebook. I do not know if they have reopened the indoor range.

Scam Reminder:

We are continuing to see fraudulent websites popping up offering to take your money for great deals on guns, parts, ammo, etc., including some fraudulent sellers on legitimate auction websites. I found one site last week that did a pretty good job of duplicating a well-known reputable national seller. Check the text and photos to see if they’re original or pasted from another source. BE VERY SURE who you’re dealing with before making a purchase. DO NOT use Venmo, PayPal, crypto, wire transfer, debit card or whatever. Use a credit card. Use an escrow service, like GunTab.

In an attempt to comply with the new unconstitutional ATF rule on incomplete frames and receivers, Polymer80 has changed its build-a-gun package offerings.
