A law professor says the new “ghost gun” regulation may be illegal. But since the underlying federal gun laws are unconstitutional in the first place, that’s hardly noteworthy.
Ashley Hlebinsky: I ain’t afraid of no ghost.

About those gun buyback (sic) programs (GBPs)
“Using data from the National Incident Based Reporting System, we find no evidence that GBPs reduce gun crime. Given our estimated null findings, with 95 percent confidence, we can rule out decreases in firearm-related crime of greater than 1.3 percent during the year following a buyback. Using data from the National Vital Statistics System, we also find no evidence that GBPs reduce suicides or homicides where a firearm was involved.”
We have a report that gun and ammo production is now almost meeting the demand. So prices should retreat, right? Got your ammo for next hunting season yet?
The number of privately held firearms in the United States, including the increase of 1.67 million last month, is about 471 million. The estimate is made using the method pioneered by Newton and Zimring, and extended by Gary Kleck in “Point Blank: Guns and Violence in America.”
The United States manufactures and imports about 9.1 billion rounds of ammunition a year, which is only about 19 rounds of ammunition per firearm in the country.
“Ammo prices are so high these days I can’t even afford to dry fire.” – Jim Kenzie
Etsy is an American e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items and craft supplies. These items fall under a wide range of categories, including jewelry, bags, clothing, home décor and furniture, toys, art, as well as craft supplies and tools. We have a report that Etsy has issued the following communiqué:
“As of May 25, 2021, we will no longer accommodate any gun parts or accessories that attach to a firearm. We take protecting our marketplace very seriously and work hard to balance the enforcement of our policies with the unique variety of handmade items our sellers contribute to the marketplace.”

Islamic Terrorist Hostage Sieges
“The objective of taking hostages, would-be jihadists are told, is ‘not to hold large numbers of the kuffar hostage in order to negotiate one’s demands,’ but to sow terror with ‘the language of force, the language of killing, stabbing and slitting throats, chopping off heads, flattening them under trucks, and burning them alive, until they give the jizyah [tax] while they are in a state of humiliation.'”
If you get caught up in a terrorist hostage siege, you must fight or escape. You cannot wait for the police to save you. They aren’t coming.
About that “keys in your hand” trick
The reason to keep your keys in your (non-dominant) hand or otherwise deployed is to not have to fumble for them at your car or door, not to use them as a weapon.
Averting Targeted School Violence
A U.S. Secret Service Analysis of Plots Against Schools:
“The key findings of the study are clear and consistent: Individuals contemplating violence often exhibit observable behaviors, and when community members report these behaviors, the next tragedy can be averted.”

U.S. Army soldiers Demarcus Adams, 21, Jarius Brunson, 22, and Brandon Miller, 22, all stationed at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky/Tennessee border, were arrested on charges they operated an illegal gun pipeline that funneled dozens of firearms out of state to Chicago. Some of the guns were found at the scene of a mass shooting in Chicago, leading to the arrests. The three soldiers have been charged with transferring a firearm to an out-of-state resident, making false statements during the purchase of a firearm, engaging in the business without a firearms license, wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.

Field & Stream and Outdoor Life magazines have both gone digital only.
I dropped my F&S subscription in 1994 when anti-gunner David Petzal was the executive editor and wrote a column (copy available on request) supporting Senator Dianne Feinstein’s “assault weapons” ban bill while strongly condemning those evil black semiautomatic rifles. Petzal is still at F&S, perhaps now as only a “contributor.”)
