Election

In the Mississippi Supreme Court race between Justice Kenny Griffis and Judge Latrice Westbrooks for the District 1, Position 1 seat, Y’all Politics has called it in favor of Griffis, because there are only 1,800 or so ballots left uncounted and YP says “Judge Westbrooks is unlikely to overcome [Griffis’] nearly 15,000 vote lead.

Georgia - win this race for gun rights and America!

Would you like to vote all you want? You can help out with the critical U.S. Senate runoff elections in Georgia by donating at this link like I did. If both Democrats win, anti-gun Democrats will control the U.S. Senate, the House, and the Presidency. Currently both races appear to be essentially tied. These two Georgia races are VERY important nationwide, and Bloomberg and the Left are pouring cash in. Click on the state of Georgia, then go to the Senate races and then to the REPUBLICAN candidates. If a million gun owners donate just $20 to each candidate, that’s $20 million each! Send ’em a box of ammo. Do it. Or else.

I was reminded this week that when U.S. Navy SEALS killed Osama bin Laden, they recovered his records which included a plan to assassinate then-President Barack Obama, because, the records said, that would put Joe Biden in the Presidency. Apparently the terrorists don’t need to assassinate, because they have the “American” Left on their side, electing their candidates.

Second plane hit towers? You should have that feeling again.
Election prediction: someone wins (I still buy guns)

Litigation

Have you noticed the landslide of gun cases being filed in federal courts since the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court? Goody.

Amy Coney Barret - shall not be infringed

The Firearms Policy Coalition, Second Amendment Foundation, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and Maryland Shall Issue have filed a new federal Second Amendment lawsuit challenging Maryland’s prohibitive concealed carry regulations that essentially ban average state residents from exercising their right to bear arms for personal protection under the Second Amendment. Maryland’s laws currently make it a crime for a law-abiding person to carry a loaded handgun outside of the home unless they have been issued a permit to carry a handgun, and the permits are commonly withheld due to unconstitutional requirements, such as the “good reason” test. In Maryland, that “good and substantial reason” requires submittal of documented evidence of concrete threats or recent assaults. The case, Call, et al. v. Jones, and info on many other cases, can be found here.

The FPC and others have filed a motion to intervene in a lawsuit brought by several cities and anti-gun groups trying to force BATFE to regulate benign blocks of aluminum, also known as “80% lowers,” from which folks can legally build their own guns.

The FPC is also soliciting for plaintiffs in a number of types of firearms cases, presumably in many, many jurisdictions.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has ruled that students’ pro-gun shirts are protected by the First Amendment. Well, duh.

Federal judiciary

Two more of President Trump’s nominees for federal judge positions have been confirmed.

Mississippi’s first Solicitor General Kristi Johnson is one of them. She is now the District Judge for the United States Southern District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, which is in the Fifth Circuit.

As of this writing there are still 61 federal judgeship vacancies, with 38 nominees pending.

Part of it is specifically about the Second Amendment.

MS Legislature

Mississippi District 41 Sen. Joey Fillingane will be the new chair of the Senate Judiciary B Committee. Jud B is where the majority of gun bills are assigned, and Fillingane is pro-gun.

Mas Ayoob on defense

You should already know this, but it doesn’t hurt to refresh. Mr. Ayoob nails down the three necessary components of legitimate self defense with deadly force. Make sure you know them. (video posted on YouTube and shown below)

9-barrel shotgun!

The Only Ones

A private armed car security guard was fired after he negligently shot the door of an Omaha office building elevator in which he was riding. The guard said he usually doesn’t keep a round chambered and was surprised when it went off. Clearly incompetent from the get-go.

NSSF gun stats

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has released its report on U.S. firearms production and sales for the year 2018. Among the most interesting data are the facts that:

  • 48% of all rifles produced and imported (less exports) in 2018 were evil black rifles;
  • There are an estimated 19.8 million EBRs in circulation today (I suspect that number is low.);
  • There are around 70-80 million each of “high capacity” pistol and rifle magazines in circulation.
