Election
The election is a week from Tuesday. Plan accordingly.
- GOA congressional candidate ratings
- NRA candidate grades
- Massad Ayoob and Dr. John Lott weigh in.
- Yeah, I know. Trump isn’t perfect. But consider this.
- Police groups: Joe Biden is a fool. Well duh.
Biden wants to bring back Obama’s gun ban for Social Security recipients who elect to have someone else manage their benefits. Biden’s campaign website also says, “Biden will enact legislation to prohibit all online sales of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts.”
Biden’s ad says he won’t raise the taxes of anyone making less than ~$400,000 a year. (Technically true since presidents don’t raise taxes. Read my lips.) But do the math: About 1/3 of Americans say they own at least one gun. That’s over 100 million people, and it’s estimated that they average 5-6 guns each (~600 million guns total). If just a tenth of those are covered by Biden’s plan to apply NFA taxes to currently-owned semiautos and such, and if each of those guns are accompanied by just two taxable magazines (>10 rounds), that’s around 1.8 billion items to be taxed at $200 each, or $360 billion in new taxes on items already owned. I suspect not all of those 100+ million gun owners make over $400,000, so Biden is both lying and subversive.
“I probably own more firearms than your average Arizonan.” – gun-banning U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kelly
Probably another lie. Arizonans tend to own lots of guns. Gun banners and leftists tend to not own so many. But they do own guns – they just don’t want YOU to own guns.
Mike Espy, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat for Mississippi currently held by Cindy Hyde-Smith (R), has been endorsed by former President Barack Obama. Mr. Espy is a good guy but is not who we need in the U.S. Senate.
Litigation
- SCOTUS justices: Game wardens need a warrant, some kind of emergency, or a landowner’s consent to enter private land. Mere suspicion of illegal activity isn’t enough.
- Ban of Blackjacks, Billy Clubs, and Batons to go before Ninth Circuit – Suit filed by Second Amendment attorney Alan Beck and Mississippi-based co-counsel Stephen Stamboulieh.
Legislation
- A group of Senate Republicans announced a constitutional amendment to fix the Supreme Court at a maximum of nine members and proposed a backup plan to change Senate rules to require a supermajority vote in the chamber before changing the size of the high court.
- Louisiana lawmakers take on educator idiocy. That’s a tall order.

Dept. of Idiocy
The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously voted to created a program to send “unarmed response teams” to allegedly nonviolent 911 calls which are currently handled by the city’s police department.
The Only Ones
U.S. Park Police officers Alejandro Amaya and Lucas Vinyard were indicted last week on manslaughter charges in the 2017 shooting death of an unarmed motorist after a car chase outside Washington. The officers are also charged with reckless use of a firearm. The offenses carry a maximum penalty of 10 years for the manslaughter charge plus 5 years for the firearms charge.
Post-lockdown crime study; racial disparity
A Washington Post analysis of 27 cities showed the rolling rate of violent crime in majority-white neighborhoods fell by 30 percent while stay-at-home orders were in effect, dipping to its lowest point in two years. Once the orders were lifted, violent crime in those neighborhoods returned to pre-pandemic levels, but stayed below average when compared with 2018 and 2019.
In majority-black neighborhoods, the rate of violence remained relatively steady while stay-at-home orders were in effect, but rose dramatically after orders were lifted, peaking at 133 crimes per 100,000 residents in July, the highest level in the past three years.
