California bar massacre update
As suspected, we’ve learned that California’s standard application (and presumably state law) for its “may-issue” concealed carry permit specifically states:
“[T]he licensee shall not, when carrying a concealed weapon … Be in a place having a primary purpose of dispensing alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption.”
For what it’s worth, California also has:
- “Red Flag” laws
- Highly restrictive may-issue concealed carry
- Ban on open carry
- Waiting period for purchase
- Test and license for purchase
- Gun show restrictions
- One gun a month purchase limit
- Mandatory handgun “safety” designs for new sales
- Assault weapon (sic) ban
- 50 caliber ban
- Magazine capacity restriction
- Purchase of ammunition only through licensed dealers
- Background check to buy ammo
- Local gun restrictions
- Ban on licensed CCW in establishments that serve alcohol, whether one is drinking or not.
Meanwhile, we have a report that the only gun shop in Thousand Oaks, CA, has suddenly been overrun with gun buyers in the wake of last week’s massacre there.
Dems step up gun control efforts
After the massacre in California last week, the now-majority Democrats in the US House have stepped up their efforts to tighten federal gun control laws in the next Congress. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who’s seeking to regain the Speaker’s gavel, vowed to move quickly on gun reform next year, citing the California bar massacre as the latest reason Congress should step in with new restrictions on the sale and ownership of firearms. Universal background checks, Pelosi suggested, would be the likely first step. There are also lots of related proposals coming from other lawmakers, including bills to ban bump stocks, ban 80% receivers and parts kits as well as 3D printing, ban semiautomatic firearms, raise prohibitive taxes on guns and ammo and prohibit so-called “high-capacity” magazines, and to mandate “smart guns,” microstamping, age-based gun bans and funding for anti-gun research. Of course the lamestream media will most likely collude with the leftists to cover up the fact that the most recent murderer not only cleared a background check but also a ten-day waiting period to purchase his pistol, and none of the dozens of California’s other gun infringements stopped him either.
Oh, and about those “red flag” laws…. seems I’ve heard about that before. Oh yes, there it is — Nazi Germany.
Remember the US Senate runoff election is Nov. 27.
Good analysis of the election results here.
Litigation
Another gun T-shirt federal case.
Friends
BenShot, a local Hortonville, Wisconsin father and son glass making company that makes the original bulletproof shot glass, whiskey, and beer glasses, gave all their employees a gun shop gift certificate of up to $500 to purchase a handgun of their choice for Christmas this year.
Kinda makes me wanna come out of retirement.
Enemies
We have a report that CNN is offering armed security to on-air “talent” who have reason to fear for their safety. Yes, the same “talent” that wants to disarm you. We also hear that in a typical presidential election, Washington media correspondents vote 93–7 percent for the Democrat. I suspect that 97% is low.
We hear the snowflakes are melting down after discovering that Walmart sells Christmas tree lights that look like shotgun shells. I bet they actually pee their pants when they get to the meat department, let alone those Christmas-colored real cartridges in the ammo department.
Some leftist doctors are again rising up against guns, claiming to be some sort of experts on the issue. But I’ve yet to see a medical school curriculum that includes any gun, shooting, self defense, military or Constitution courses. So they’re not experts and not even amateurs. They could just as easily claim to be school bus experts because they see some every day. They’re liars. Slap ’em down. Oh by the way, they’re coming for your knives too.
About those protective orders
A woman was found dead from “obvious head injuries” near Kansas City, MO, last week with an order of protection in her pocket. The order was against her husband, who is now facing charges in her murder.
Those court orders are literally just pieces of paper. And the cops show up AFTER the crime.
“The female of the species is more deadly than the male…”
“In the past 38 years, more than 270 studies, with an aggregate sample size of more than 440,000, have found that ‘women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners’ from teenage years on.”
Church security
Family security
Moms (and Dads), what would you do to keep your small children from being abducted, raped, tortured and murdered? Think about that for a minute. Really think about it.
Now, where’s your gun?
Colleges: The blind leading the blind.
We see that at least one university is now offering an “active shooter survival” course, where they will teach you everything except what you really need to know.
Department of Idiocy
“Troops are only there in an engineering capacity and will be laying out barbed-wire fences. Troops doing that obviously are not armed. They don’t need their weapons.” — US SecDef Jim Mattis, while visiting troops deployed on our southern border this week. Funny, I always need a gun when I’m building fences. And the guys at the Ft. Hood induction center didn’t need weapons either, did they Jimbo? Go back and look at the title of this section.
Irresponsible Media Coverage Doubles Mass Shootings
(It’s the media’s fault)
A paper presented to the American Psychological Association found the number of mass killings, rampage killings or “mass shootings,” may be doubled by irresponsible media aggrandizement of mass killers. Doubled.
We told you so. “If it saves just one life….”
This is one reason why we don’t identify most of these killers here. Another reason is I ain’t givin’ them anything they want.
The Only Ones
An unidentified Midlothian, IL (Chicago area) police officer responding to a shooting call early last Sunday morning fatally shot a bar’s legally armed security guard who had apprehended one of the suspects at gunpoint, in spite of patrons screaming to the officer that the soon-to-be victim was a security guard, and in spite of the guard wearing a “security” hat. One report says that another security guard at the bar, who also was threatened with a gun by the same officer said that the officer jumped onto the bar and waved an “assault rifle” before running outside and fatally shooting the guard. That was Sunday. A $1 million federal lawsuit was filed on Monday on behalf of the victim’s family, claiming that the officer violated the victim’s 4th Amendment rights. In a statement, Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney said that the unidentified officer shot “a subject with a gun,” and that the officer ordered the victim multiple times to drop it. Maybe the victim didn’t hear the order over the noise of folks screaming to the cop that he was a security guard.
A California man who was a retired 32-year veteran of the Fresno Police Department and retired Oakdale police chief was fatally shot by a Fresno officer this week as he charged at the officer with a large knife. Apparently the man was known to have mental issues.
Carleton Village, Michigan, Police Chief Roy Johnson shot himself in the foot after he slipped on ice and his gun discharged while responding to a breaking and entering call yesterday.
Former Alabama State Trooper Steve Smith was fatally shot by a Demopolis police officer after authorities say he shot west Alabama District Attorney Greg Griggers in the face Thursday afternoon. Smith was also a suspect in the 1996 shooting of the Livingston home of Circuit Judge Eddie Hardaway and was fired from his job as a trooper in July 1996 for publicly criticizing investigators looking into the shooting. Griggers is expected to recover.
Cape Buffalo with an air rifle. Really. Shot is at 17:43.
