We had a report this morning of shots fired in Building 197 on the Washington Navy Yard campus, which was placed in lockdown, with surrounding neighbors evacuated. No casualties reported. A massive multi-agency law enforcement response ensued.

Apparently it was a false alarm prompted by a loud noise.

In September 2013, a military contractor killed 12 civilian workers at the Navy Yard’s same Building 197 before he was fatally shot by police.

The Navy Yard remains a “gun free” zone.
