The Boy Scouts of America, an organization with semi-military origins which has been racing to the bottom in recent years (and has now arrived), has now banned water gun fights. Pointing simulated firearms at people is not allowed. Biodegradable water balloons no larger than a ping pong ball are still allowed. Also prohibited are rubber band fights and marshmallow shooters. You know, a scout camp is one of the few places left where boys could have a play fight without getting shot up by the cops.
An Atlantic City, NJ fifth-grader was suspended for a week from the Uptown Complex School for accidentally bringing a foam Nerf bullet to school. School officials categorized that foam bullet as a “self-constructed weapon” because it had a broken toothpick stuck in it, which the boy placed there so the bullet would stick to the ground when fired from a Nerf gun. In other words, it’s far less dangerous than a pencil.
The school’s policy prohibits “Anything readily capable of lethal use or inflicting serious bodily injury.” Yeah a chunk of foam and a broken toothpick fit that description…. Of course desks, belts, shoes, hands, feet, pencils, baseball bats, door stops, lunch trays, etc., ad nauseum, also fit that description.
Officials originally proposed to expel the boy, but eventually agreed to a five-day, in-school suspension followed by a probationary period and a notation on his permanent record stating that he brought a makeshift weapon to school.
Remember that many folks called “officials,” “administrators” or “authorities” are in their own very special little group.
A successful businessman, Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, 10-year-old son and housekeeper were brutally murdered this week inside their $4.5 million home in an exclusive Washington, D.C. neighborhood where mansions are protected by fences and security systems and law enforcement is a constant presence, in part because Vice President “Shotgun Joe” Biden’s official residence is nearby.
Initial speculation is they were held captive for nearly a day before the adults were stabbed and bludgeoned to death, and the child was burned. It turns out that Savopoulos and his company strongly financially supported US Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), a strong proponent of “gun control” who is rated 100% by the Brady Bunch and the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and was given failing grades by both GOA and NRA.
Well, apparently nobody used guns in this incident. Happy now? Learn from others’ mistakes. Don’t purchase a butchering.
