Enemies Roundup for January 16, 2015

“You have a mayor who hates guns. “If it was up to me, we wouldn’t have any handguns in the District of Columbia. I swear to protect the Constitution and what the courts say, but I will do it in the most restrictive way as possible.” — Muriel E. Bowser, D.C. mayor, during her first week in office

“You can be perfectly law-abiding one moment, and then the next moment you can be a criminal and do something criminal and wrong, like shoot up a movie theater, or kill your spouse during an argument. [Regulation of people and behavior is needed] “to protect us against our own stupidity and our own irrationality.” — ironically named Leah Gunn-Barrett, head of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence

“I am totally for gun control in the US.” “There’s too many [expletive] guns out there, especially in America….I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace.” — two-bit actor Liam Neeson

PARA USA’s statement on Facebook regarding Liam Neeson:

“PARA USA regrets its decision to provide firearms for use in the film ‘Taken 3.’ While the film itself is entertaining, comments made by its Irish-born star during press junkets reflect a cultural and factual ignorance that undermines support of the Second Amendment and American liberties. We will no longer provide firearms for use in films starring Liam Neeson and ask that our friends and partners in Hollywood refrain from associating our brand and products with his projects. Further, we encourage our partners and friends in the firearms industry to do the same.”

Pennsylvania’s attorney general, Kathleen Kane, was elected in 2012, and is an avid anti-gunner and one of Bloomberg’s close cronies. She has gone so far as to say that she will not defend the recently passed gun reform bill from a lawsuit filed by some Keystone State cities (see “PA ordinances“). But she has also been under investigation for leaking information from a grand jury in order to undercut a probe into corruption involving the head of the NAACP in Philadelphia, and now the statewide grand jury investigating AG Kane has recommended criminal charges against her. A county prosecutor or AG will decide whether or not to indict her.

The Violence Policy Center says black people can’t be trusted with guns:

“For blacks, like all victims of homicide, guns — usually handguns — are far and away the number-one murder tool. Successful efforts to reduce America’s black homicide toll, like America’s homicide toll as a whole, must put a focus on reducing access and exposure to firearms.” — VPC’s report, titled “Black Homicide Victimization in the United States”

The NSSF’s SHOT Show is a posted, make-believe “gun free zone.”
