NRA
- Please don’t forget to send in your NRA Board election ballot. The deadline for RECEIPT of ballots is March 29.
- The first hour of Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk radio last Sunday included a short visit with first-term NRA Board member Amanda Suffecool, who is also on the ballot for re-election. The interview about the Board’s machinations is very revealing and I recommend you listen to it. You can get the podcast here.
Litigation
- US Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals: “drug use generally or marijuana use specifically does not automatically extinguish a person’s Second Amendment right.”
- An en banc Third Circuit panel on Wednesday heard two cases involving firearms that could each have significant implications for the future of gun rights in the United States.
- A Kenosha County, Wisconsin judge dismissed a 45-count burglary/property damage case because the DA Xavier Solis used AI to submit paperwork and didn’t disclose it. (Note: Neither I nor the 2ANews uses AI in any form, though I do sometimes read AI summaries of text. However, most of our stuff consists of links to other sources. Those sources – some of which probably use AI – are believed to be valid, but as always use your own good judgment. – JP)
- California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed suit against Gatalog Foundation, CTRLPew, and several individual 2A activists for “unlawfully distributing computer code for 3D printing firearms and prohibited firearm accessories and for promoting and facilitating the unlawful manufacture of 3D printed firearms and firearm accessories” under (unconstitutional) California laws.

- Grassroots judicial report.
- SCOTUSblog: Text, history, and party presentation. A good read. I have always opined that doing something wrong before – whether it be tying your shoe or deciding a capital punishment case – is no justification for doing it wrong again. Quite the opposite.
Government
- On January 28, 2025, the US Department of Justice filed an amicus curiae brief detailing the reasons the Massachusetts handgun roster is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.
- ATF Warns of Hoax Homeland Security Letter “Suspending Second Amendment.” You might see fake news about this around the internet.
- ATF Blinks.
Enemies
- Billionaires Laura and John Arnold purchased another anti-gun “study” from the corrupt RAND Corporation.
- Committed Gun-Grabbers (Liars) Claim to Support the Second Amendment.
- NSSF: The media lies. Gee, ya think?
Studies & Stats
- About those “sensitive places.” A good read.
- Dr. Lott: Australians are dramatically more likely to be victims of violent crime than Americans.
- About those massacrists. Note that middle easterners and transgender people commit these crimes at rates of around SIX TIMES their population share.
- Republican women are 14% more likely to own guns than Democrat men. That may not be a fair metric since one party knows how to define genders.
GFZs
- Ten people, including the suicidal perpetrator, have been killed in a reported 40-minute shooting massacre at a high school and a residential property in Canada’s Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, a picturesque mountain valley town in the foothills of the Rockies. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said more than 25 people have also been injured after the shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Investigators had identified a “female” transgender suspect. Canada has very strict gun laws, which might be why no one shot back. Police recovered a long gun and a modified handgun, both presumably illegal anywhere in the country.

- The .45 Redhawk. As far as I know, the only comparable factory gun is the original Colt Anaconda .45, no longer in production.
2026 MS Gun Bills Still Alive
Summary of gun related legislation I’ve found this session. NOT guaranteed complete.
Yesterday was a deadline. Next deadline: March 3 for COMMITTEES TO REPORT general bills originating in OTHER HOUSE.
SB 2316
By: Sen. Johnson
To: Jud. B
PASSED Senate – goes to House
Clarifies that silencer manufacture, sale or possession is illegal under state law only if illegal under federal law.
SB 2339
By: Sen. Wiggins
To: Jud. B
PASSED Senate Committee – unknown at this writing whether it passed the full Senate by yesterday’s deadline
Tweaks the “red flag” law to provide that a petitioner to the court may request that firearms be prohibited from a criminal or person subject to a court ordered restraint and that such request must be specific as to the particular threat or reason for the request. The request is not mandatory for the court to issue such prohibitions.
