Litigation
- A coalition of Second Amendment defenders have filed a new federal lawsuit – Roberts v. ATF – in the US District Court for Eastern Kentucky, challenging the remnants of the National Firearms Act of 1934. The plaintiffs are demanding the federal court declare the NFA’s registration requirements for suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and “any other weapons” (AOWs) null and void. They seek a permanent injunction halting enforcement by the ATF, its acting director, the Department of Justice, and US Attorney General Pamela Bondi. This filing marks the third major lawsuit in under a year targeting the NFA since the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) effectively zeroed out the infamous $200 weapons “tax stamp.”

- Enforcing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. I suggest the problem would largely go away if the shyster lawyers and plaintiffs involved received significant punishment for their nonsense.
- SCOTUS update.
- A Georgia man who gave his teenage son the gun he’s accused of using to kill two students and two teachers at a high school was convicted of two counts each of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter and multiple counts of reckless conduct and cruelty to children; a total of 27 charges. Colin Gray gave his son access to a gun and ammunition “after receiving sufficient warning that his son would harm and endanger the bodily safety of another.” Prosecutors say Mr. Gray was aware that his son’s mental health had deteriorated and he knew his son was obsessed with school shooters, even having a shrine in his bedroom to another school massacrist.
- The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit issued a 2-1 split ruling in United States v. Brad Wendt. The court unanimously affirmed former Iowa police chief Brad Wendt’s convictions for making false statements to the ATF and conspiracy to defraud the agency, but reversed his conviction for illegal possession of a machine gun.

Enemies & Idiots
- Post-1986 Machine Guns legal? I would agree. In fact, considering that the original and blatantly unconstitutional 1986 gun ban law was “passed” on a voice vote that clearly failed and no votes were counted (I was watching on CNN, live), I don’t put anything past the feds.
- Gannett’s flagship rag, USA TODAY, actually warned its shrinking readership that its staffers are using fake mass-shooting data in their reporting. I don’t read Gannett stuff, except to expose this sort of nonsense.
- Own a legal gun, go to jail. Keystone cops in Louisiana. The victim is now suing the department for arresting and detaining him without genuine cause.
- Illinois: SWAT Team Used to Arrest Man Charged With Possessing 38 Rounds of Ammo Without a Permit. This sort of nonsense is why I made a U-turn on the Mississippi River bridge at St. Louis to keep from accidentally going into Illinois. That law is clearly unconstitutional.

Tactics & Stuff

- The Rangemaster March newsletter is out.
- FBI 9mm ammo rehash with criteria and history. Currently the FBI uses Hornady Critical Duty 9mm +P 135 gr. (FlexLock/FTX), which costs nearly double what some other premium and equally capable competing loads cost. Also, there are some excellent FBI-criteria ballistic test results for various loads available. I like the comparison tool at the Speer Law Enforcement website, but it’s limited to Speer & Federal ammo.
- Intelligence estimates warn that at least 18,000 combat-trained terrorists are already inside the US, prepared to carry out coordinated attacks using firearms, explosives, and other deadly tactics across the country. Distributed across the US, that would be at least 72 five-man terror teams per state. The question is not IF they will attack. Some of them will undoubtedly be active as the war in Iran progresses. Be prepared. Really prepared.

Industry News
- Ruger Board update (more here). We are keeping an eye on Beretta’s attempted hostile takeover of Ruger. We note that retiring Ruger Board member Sandy Froman was also one of Wayne LaPierre’s “old guard” acolytes on the NRA Board of Directors.
- Registration is open for the 41st annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC), co-hosted by the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. - Italian Firearms Group (IFG) has announced the release of the Kodiak Survivalist, an all-new compact express rifle from Davide Pedersoli. It is a nice side-by-side double rifle (with a $168 Picatinny rail sold separately), chambered in .44 Magnum. Yes, the pistol round. 5.73 lbs. $2700.

- How about a .22 suppressor for just $150? Out of stock of course.
