Veterans Day

A close-up of a dog tag with "THANK YOU VETERANS" engraved, lying on a surface with an American flag in the background.

My sincerest apologies to all the veterans out there for not mentioning Veterans Day in the last newsletter. You are not forgotten, except sometimes when I’m typing something else.

A rusty, partially submerged tank is being recovered from a body of water, while a crowd of people observes from the bank.

Thoughts

  • Machine guns are arms, as protected by the Second Amendment, and thus should not be banned or restricted from ownership by law-abiding Americans. Any attempt to do so, including the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), and the 1986 Hughes Amendment found in the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act (FOPA), constitutes a violation of both natural law and the United States Constitution. Does that make our federal and state governments criminal? Unequivocally yes.”

Tactics & Stuff

  • Pocket carry.
  • Should You Report a Grizzly Bear Self-Defense Shooting? Grizzly bears in the 48 contiguous states are currently protected as a threatened species. It is illegal to harm, harass or kill these bears, except in cases of self-defense or the defense of others. I failed to find any constitutional authority for the federal government to regulate shooting grizzly bears or any other wildlife, whether threatened, endangered, or not.
  • Don’t be stupid.

Industry News

  • Wolfe Publishing Company has announced the rebranding of its long-standing Rifle Magazine to Rifle & Handgun Magazine. The change will officially take effect with the January/February 2026 issue, No. 344. We hope they will still PRINT the magazine.
  • A win for Sig (details here and here).
  • Bad guns, companies:
    • DesertTech.
    • S&W. “Almost all of the S&W revolvers I’ve purchased in the last five years have needed to be immediately returned to the factory after firing less (sic) than 50 rounds. Some of mine have been back a few times without remedy. I hate to say it, but if you are in the market for a new snub revolver, the Ruger LCR is a much better choice.” – Greg Ellifritz
  • The NRA Foundation announced new grant awards supporting school security initiatives through the NRA School Shield program, made possible in part by a generous estate gift designated specifically for school safety initiatives.

Products

  • Smith & Wesson has announced the Davidson’s Exclusive Model 432 (black) and Model 632 (silver) revolvers. Chambered in .32 H&R Mag, both of these double-action revolvers feature a 6-round capacity, a 1.88-inch stainless-steel barrel, a precision-regulated gold bead front sight and an integrated u-notch rear sight, and weigh just 14.7 ounces. (See the S&W item above.)
