Legislation
- It turns out that since short-barreled rifles and shotguns and other NFA items aren’t subject to the 10-11% excise tax on firearms, under the Big Beautiful Bill’s removal of the $200 NFA tax, they will presumably now be cheaper than regular non-NFA guns.
Litigation
- The Sixth US Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the Second Amendment means you can maintain possession of your guns and cops can’t just steal them from you. Duh. Now if they would just rule that cops should serve felony prison time for such robberies.
- The Third Circuit has ruled that the federal law prohibiting “unlawful” users of drugs from possessing firearms is constitutional, only sometimes.
- Fifth Circuit Holds Gun Free School Zone Law to be Constitutional. It ain’t. That’s a majority of the country.

- The Seventh Circuit has decided that illegal aliens have no Second Amendment protection.
- Gun groups sue to overturn federal interstate handgun sales ban.
- Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), together with Pennsylvania resident Bonita Shreve have filed a lawsuit against the US Postal Service, seeking to overturn the Prohibition-era federal ban on the mailing of handguns by non-FFL citizens.

- How ATF Agent Tyler Cowart murdered airport executive director Bryan Malinowski.

The Only Ones
- I dunno. Sounds a lot like cold-blooded murder.
- A new report from the federal Government Accountability Office, ordered by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) reveals that the Secret Service received classified intelligence regarding a threat to Mr. Trump’s life 10 days before the rally, but failed to share the information with other key agencies. It also identified a series of procedural and planning mistakes, including “misallocation of resources, lack of training and pervasive communication failures” that led to the near assassination. We understand that a few SS personnel have been temporarily suspended.

Industry News
- The Michigan State Police has fully transitioned their agency to the Sig Sauer P320/M18 pistol with a Sig Romeo-M17 optic and Foxtrot2R light as their issued primary handgun system and the Sig P365 as their secondary firearm. We’re holding our breath.
- Meanwhile in a memo this week, the Department of Homeland Security declared that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Authorized Officers “will no longer be authorized to carry all models of the SIG Sauer P320 pistols,” and “directs the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs to purchase, as soon as practical, replacement duty handguns for currently affected ICE Authorized Officers, including those scheduled to be issued in the near term, and to provide a proposed plan within 10 calendar days to, among other items, supply an agency-issued Glock 19 MOS pistol and related equipment, to include a micro red dot sight, weapon mounted light, duty holster, and concealed carry holster, to all ICE Authorized Officers moving forward.”
- Online firearms seller GrabAGun Digital Holdings, with the stock ticker “PEW,” made its market debut on Wednesday after board member Donald Trump Jr., rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of GrabAGun spiked at first but then sank, closing down nearly 24%. Probably a good time to buy.
